2020 is going to be epic. It’s a
new decade and brides doing it their way in non-traditional, modern, socially,
economically, and environmentally responsible ways. If you’re planning to say your I dos in 2020, you can expect the following seven trends to be hot
all year long.
Like all modern brides, you don’t
want to just experience your wedding, you want to document it for the world.
Thanks to advanced technology (hello, Insta!) you’ve seen no shortage of
wedding photos, and you want yours to be just as shareable, likable, and
unbelievable.
When you meet with your wedding
photographer, share with him or her your goals for your photos, including the
tone, theme, location, and setting variety. Also share your budget, of course.
No matter what you envision, make sure you talk to your wedding photographer
about capturing these six magical moments. These are the wedding day memories
that every bride tells us she remembers with clarity and appreciates having
documented for eternity.
1. The Dress—Just the Dress
Don’t be jelly, bridezilla. Your dress is its own celebrity—ehrm, we mean entity—which means you must document it on its own. We love images of the dress spread out on a smooth, soft comforter, hanging in a window with rays of sunlight peeking through its lace, or dangling from a chandelier. Just thinking about it gives us all the feels.
2. Getting Ready with Your Squad
You’ll want to remember the laughter and tears you shared with your maid of honor and bridesmaids (no matter how large or small your party). Candid photos of you and your girls with your hairstylist and makeup artists are priceless. Also, don’t forget the moment before you all put on your dresses—especially yours.
3. Your Quartet
We don’t mean the four-piece orchestra that will play during your cocktail hour, but by all means, snap a pic of them too. We mean your something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. Someday, you’ll want to show the photo to your daughter as inspiration. *wipes tear from eye.*
4. The Look
When you’re a wedding guest, and the bride appears at the end of the aisle for the very first time, do you stare at her in awe? Of course not! You look at the groom to see if he’s smiling with exuberance or about to weep thankful tears. You only get to make one first impression on your groom on your wedding day (because he best not be seeing you before the ceremony!) so capture it forever.
5. Dancing with Dad
Another beautiful wedding moment that never fails to elicit tears is the moment when the bride dances with her dad. No matter which special man or woman you choose to share that first family dance with, snap it and love it.
6. The Cake Smash
This is a tradition
that dates back generations (for
real—check this out). Whether you choose
a dessert table, three-tiered cake, or Sundae bar (or all three), you must
capture the magical moment when you and your groom smoosh sweet treats into one
another’s faces. Then, frame the photo and put it next to the one of your
parents and grandparents making the same move.
