For Stephanie & Christopher, a barn wedding was the perfect way to get married their way while expressing their unique style, and special love. A barn wedding also gave Stephanie an opportunity to take a more hands-on approach with her wedding, creating many of the wedding favors and finishing touches herself. Where Stephanie needed the touch of an experienced professional was when it came to her wedding invitations. With the help of the prolific Kelly Adams, Stephanie was able to invite her wedding guests to join her on her wedding day with handmade and completely unique invitations that perfectly fit her rustic wedding theme.
Let’s be real. Who honestly needs another tie for the holidays? Or a toaster. Or another scarf? This holiday season, give your loved ones something that will prove just how much you love them and how much time and effort you spent deciding on a holiday gift as unique and special as they are. We all have a lot of shopping to do, but when you make personal choices and spend the time truly customizing your gift giving strategy for your loved one, you end up with a thoughtful gift he or she will value for years (and not turn around and re-gift when their next co-worker celebrates an office birthday).
Kelly Adams and her inspirational team of innovative designers recently created an unforgettable stationery set and unbelievable candy buffet for a very special young man’s first communion. The full creative solution included custom, hand-made invitations, a sugary sweet candy buffet, table centerpieces, a silk card box, and a full complement of day-of stationery.
In honor of Joseph’s first communion, his mother Christine wanted every touch and designaspect to be perfect and cohesive. Christine decided on a navy blue and white color theme, complimented by hints of silver. This peaceful, traditional color palette, was the ideal choice to symbolize the important accomplishment that a First Communion represents in Joseph’s spiritual journey.
“My son’s First Holy Communion theme was more about a ‘young; masculine theme with certain colors—blues, silver and grey,” said Christine.
Christine wanted to work with a designer and creative partner that she could trust to share her vision and bring creative inspiration to Joseph’s special event.
“I wanted everything to come together and connect. Kelly is absolutely wonderful at seeing the ‘big’ picture and understanding the impression I wanted to make. I chose RSVP to me because of the talent, the quality, and ultimately, the impression.”
Kelly started by creating a classically traditional invitation using actual silver sharkskin for the large border, bold navy accents and simple, tasteful font styles. She created a signature monogram to serve as a memorable design element at the top of the invitation that could be used throughout the event’s stationery suite. Our favorite touch is the hint of navy blue grosgrain ribbon laced through the top inside corner of the invitation card. Kelly affixed a small rhinestone cross to emphasize just how special Joseph’s accomplishment would be.
The signature styling of the invitation was woven through each of the event’s stationery element, including place cards, candy buffet signage, place settings, and dinner menus.
Even the card box was wrapped in tiers of deep navy silk and silver ribbon, ensuring every
No special event would be complete without a signature candy buffet. To continue Joseph’s theme of blues, whites, and silvers, Kelly incorporated this contemporary color palette into a delicious dream-come-true using blue and white striped chocolate covered Oreos, drizzled rice Krispy treats, white chocolate dipped cake pops, swirled blue and white lollipops, blue jelly beans, white and blue taffy, gumballs, and glittering white rock candy.
Guests were even encouraged to pack of bag of treats to take home with them as they left Joseph’s sweet bar.
Another absolutely elegant component was the three-tiered cake designed by “A Little Cake” (Le Petit Gateau) in Park Ridge, NJ.
The bottom tier was a glittering, metallic gray. The middle layer incorporated a glittering cross into its light blue frosting, and the top silver layer was adorned by Kelly’s signature monogram. The bottom of each cake layer was wrapped in a navy blue silk ribbon, grounding each layer and adding a unique, and elegant final touch.
According to Christine, she, Joseph, and their entire family could not have been more thrilled with the final outcome of the hours of work spent by Kelly and her team, saying:
“The overall result was breathtaking, and unforgettable.”
